One of th eprincipal occupations of the citizens of Einbeck was brewing, and their beer was certainly the most famous during the Middle Ages.  The beer was made of two-thirds barley malt and one-third wheat malt, strongly hopped, and brewed only in winter.  It was shipped through the port of Hamburg to every European country including Russia and Asia Minor.
